Last year was a cool year for BRBC. Literally. We were able to add mini-split heat pumps to the sanctuary and enjoy some fiery sermons in cool air. Of course, now we have to figure out how cold is cold.
The units also supplement our heating capabilities, which was good, since our furnace experienced some difficulties shortly after the heat pumps were installed!
In cutting news, we purchased a new lawn tractor to help keep the parsonage yard in tip-top shape.
In reviewing storage options, it was decided the parsonage needed a new shed, although I’m not quite sure why. The old one was previously used for many years at the church, was rolled (literally) onto a trailer and again rolled into place at the parsonage. After 15 years of service it was struck by lightning, screwed back together and was the happy abode for thousands of ants and several other undetermined creatures. Other than a rotten floor and a door that couldn’t close, it was fine. Oh, well, that’s progress.
Recently we were presented with an opportunity to purchase a security system from a local company at a substantial discount. A generous donation allowed us to proceed without affecting the current budget, so when you come in, look up and smile!
Lastly, there are ongoing projects to change the carpeting in the education wing, and to correct some items mentioned by a recent fire inspection.
