In the past couple of weeks, we have made two significant updates to the facility.
New Sign!
We started the process of pricing out and then designing a new road sign back in OCTOBER 2023! It has been quite the process to get the new sign installed, and it was supposed to be installed for Resurrection Sunday, but that didn’t happen. The sign finally did get installed on April 13!
Re-Keying the Building
One of the big security issues in our building was the multiplicity of keys! Not only were there a number of different keys for doors in the building, but we also did not know who had which keys. We engaged Countryside Lock & Key to install all new ADA-compliant handles with a single key system.
- The facilities team leader (Bob B) and our facilities manager (Sean D) as well as the elders and most ministry leaders have master keys, which open all doors.
- Volunteers who are not tasked with opening the building have a classroom key.
- Maintenance rooms have automatic locks to secure potential hazards and infrastructure equipment (fire panel, furnaces, electric panels).
Also, you may notice that external doors “feel” locked now. This is because we are unlocking the crash bars from the inside for events like worship gatherings. This allows us to secure the facility quickly is there is an external threat.
