Troublesome Prophets: Elijah and Elisha

This is the story of two men who stood against a dynasty.

In the 9th century, the House of Omri rose to power through conquest and alliance. The greatest king of the dynasty, Ahab, ruled with his wife Jezebel, the daughter of the king of Sidon. Together, they led the country into a time of economic and political power at the cost of their faithfulness to Yahweh, their God.

In response, God raised up two prophets – Elijah and Elisha – who were the constant thorn in their side but were untouchable. They spoke out against abuse and idolatry, led a counter-revolution and ultimately brought the whole thing tumbling down.

Beginning on December 29, we will walk with these troublesome prophets and look deep into their lives and work. Along the way, we will see reflections of our own times and our own place as followers of the one true God.
